Our 2011 Holidays!

A post card entry from Montgomery for out Holidays... I was at work putting up ASF's Christmas Musical for the week of Thanksgiving, so Turkey Day itself was spent mostly in recovery, with some work notes, and dinner at the Ascension - which was an unexpected pleasure, enjoying an amazing dinner with some folks we didn't know especially well.

The Pridmore Casa Decked out for Christmas
Christmas at the Pridmore house was short and rather quiet in 2011 - My work schedule this season kept me at ASF through the 22nd, and brought me back to the theatre on the 26th. (We put on A Christmas Memory this for the Christmas as well, based on the Truman Capote short story.)

Our Mini Tree - Table Top Variety
After either not having a tree or having a tiny table top tree for the past few years due to space, Jeff and I came up with the bright idea of putting up a small tree on top of an end table. We bought a pre-lit tree and a handful of new decorations - a different version of the tree I used to have in my room as a kid! (Though it sat on the floor.)  Pretty cute I think!

As usual, we joined our neighbors on the second Saturday for their annual Christmas party - a fabulous get together in their house for the neighborhood and their friends - great food, drink, and company.

Kitty Christmas
On the 19th we were joined by my mom (Georgia Thompson) who flew in from Cedar City to spend Christmas with us. It was great to have her at the house - even though we didn't do much besides watch movies, TV, cook, eat, and shop.

Mom also was the acting Santa Clause - and hooked the fur kids up! Our cat tree gave up the ghost - and mom bought them this new fabulous kitty play ground.

She also helped Fang make a fashion statement by buying him an Ozzy shirt! Whoot! Good to know Fang has the same taste as his folks. :)

People Christmas Present!

Our Christmas was chairs... both Jeff and I got recliners. I can't argue with a little creature comfort... Not bad...not bad at all. :)

After Christmas Eve music and church services at Ascension, and Christmas Day Lessons and Carols, we drove up to Trussville to have dinner and spend the day with Jeff's folks - Peg and Bud, and our niece Brittney and Great Niece Jaylan - who is TOO stinkin' cute and talks like a teenager at the ripe age of 3 and a half.  We had a great dinner. Brit and Peggy made ham, potatoes, squash, green bean, and broccoli casseroles, pea salad, as well as an amazing apple pie and cake. I made my first layered Jell-o salad - it was great except that I was worried about it making it the trip so I put it in the freezer. Bad call... Hard frozen Jell-o as it thaws gets soupy. It was still pretty tasty, even though it was Jell-o slushy at dinner.

Jaylan shows off her new doll from
Uncle Jeff and Aunt Chel
We exchanged gifts after - we gave Jaylan a "Jaylan" doll and a bunch of Dora the Explorer goodies, which was so fun to see her reaction to. Jaylan gave us a set of pot holders she'd decorated for us with her hand prints. EEEK! How cute is THAT!  The comedy moment was when Jeff's dad opened his "Bee" Hat - a stocking cap that looks like a happy bee face in honor of his recent interest in bee keeping.

Back to work on the 26th, stealing as much time at home as I could until mom flew back to Cedar on the 29th.

Ringing in the New Year was pretty anti-climatic. I was at work until 11:30 or so, and when I got home Jeff had been in bed for an hour or so. We were both startled (me in the shower and he out of sleep) by our neighbors celebratory semi-automatic gun fire to kick off midnight. But still! The New Year is here!

Happy New Year!
